29th August 2018 - Well Done Mark and Tony

29th August 2018 - Well Done Mark and Tony

Two more PTC athletes were in action recently, Tony and Mark.

Earlier in the season, Mark took on the Outlaw Half with a view to beating his previous time – I’ll let Mark’s words complete the rest of the story:

“Pat provided me with a tailored program for the Nottingham Outlaw Half based on a Wattbike FTP test carried out by Pat and run times based on my current running ability. He tailored the plan to the number of hours I could commit to each week. Halfway through the program, Pat had to tweak the program to reflect my improving fitness levels.

The program was heart rate based for the turbo trainer and outdoor rides and pace based for the run training. It was very easy to follow and as long as you are committed and consistent with your training, it will definitely improve your PB and following the program, I beat my Outlaw Half PB by 11 minutes. The hardest part of the training was mentally conditioning myself to run at a slower pace on the long endurance training runs (as prescribed by Pat), which actually makes you race faster!

Following the Outlaw Half, Pat tailored me a separate eight-week Olympic distance program for the Salford Olympic Tri, unfortunately the weather conditions prevented a PB, but the program enabled me to get into the top 20%, whereas last year in Olympic distance racing I was only managing to get into the top 25%.”

Mark has now entered Ironman UK next year and will be joining a growing group of PTC athletes training for this event.

Meanwhile, Tony was in action at the West Lancashire Summer Triathlon.

Despite the weather, and Tony taking a wrong turn on the run, he PB’d in all three disciplines and smashed his sprint distance PB by over 30 minutes! Even his wife said that he looked a lot more comfortable, a lot stronger and a lot happier than he did at his last triathlon prior to joining PTC.

If you want to improve your performance and achieve results like these, or even complete your first triathlon, then please get in touch.
