30th May 2018 - PTC Athletes PB Again !!!

Racing Roundup from the last few months and once again, lots of PB's for Team PTC:

March brought some fantastic results at Liverpool Half Marathon with every PTC athlete getting a new PB including a sub 1:30 effort by Graeme as well as some fantastic racing at the 2UP Duathlon: Coach Pat & Dave - 7th overall and an age group win, Gary & Jason - 2 hours 33 minutes, 58th overall and a PB by almost 10 minutes and Marc & Rob - 2 hours 33 minutes and 60th overall.

A lot happened in the first half of April with Jackie who finished Chirk Triathlon in style - her first tri this year. Despite not being able to run up until a couple of months prior, she put in a great performance in her come back race. Then Graeme and Billy the dog completed a 2.3 mile canicross race finishing in 16 minutes placing them in 19th position overall and 4th in age group. Then Dave absolutely smashed the Boston Half Marathon in an amazing time of 1 hour 23 minutes putting him in 12th place overall!

Coach Pat and Mags finished the Boundary Park Triathlon in April. Despite the 11 degree water temperature shortening the swim to 800m, Mags completed the swim with determination before handing over the baton to Coach Pat to completed the 34 mile bike leg, then back to Mags for the 10k run. Overall a 2nd place finish (relay teams).

The seconds half of April saw Marc finishing Kendal Sprint Triathlon with a PB despite the windy conditions finishing 57th overall and 4th in his age group and Dave finished Milltown Sprint Triathlon against a very strong field with yet another top 10 finish coming in 8th place overall and 2nd in his age group.

May saw Gary racing at Horwich Triathlon in the blistering heat finishing once again in the top half - way to go Gary! Then Dave and Carl braved the scorching weather and wind and raced at the Ironman 70.3 in Mallorca. Dave managed to PB finishing in a mighty impressive 5 hours, 5 minutes, and Carl who's previous attempt at this race resulted in a DNF, managed to finish in 6 hours 27 minutes despite having some stomach issues on the bike. Toby had a great race at Southport Triathlon (not quite Mallorca weather) finishing in 2 hours 31 minutes - way to go Toby!

On May the 20th, Graeme, Mark and Coach Pat all headed off to Nottingham for the Outlaw Half Ironman. Despite the oppresive heat, Mark managed a PB finishing in 5 hours 20 minutes, Graeme finished with a new very solid PB of 5 hours 6 minutes - hot on the heels of Coach Pat, also with a PB of 4 hours, 58 minutes. Sub 5 goal achieved for Coach Pat!

May bank holiday weekend was also a fantastically successful weekend for several PTC athletes all competing at Rossendale Triathlon on a very windy and hot course. A solid performance by Toby finishing 2nd in his age group and 27th overall and Oli who won his age group and was 20th overall. The battle was on again between Dave and Coach Pat with Dave coming in 6th place overall and 3rd in his age group, being just pipped by Coach Pat who came in 5th overall and 2nd in his age group with just 18 seconds between them!!

What a busy few months for everyone. All that winter training paying dividends.

Next up is Chester Deva Olympic distance next week where Coach Pat and Dave will be fighting it out head to head again with Oli and Marc in the chase pack.

Good Luck everyone - updates to follow in due course.
